I “NEED” to go to the gym!
Strong is the new Skinny!
Don’t get me wrong, I follow a number of fitness vloggers and happen to be one myself. But from being a part of this community you start to see how some have made it corrupt. Most of the biggest names in the industry have set unrealistic physique expectations for their followers. Therefore they can never be truly happy in their minds because it is physically impossible to look like some of these role models naturally. Saying that, there are many vloggers who are honest and truthful about what work goes into getting a physique like theirs, but many have taken the fast lane.
The Addicts
I myself was thinking about competing last year so I decided to go to a competition to see what it was like. The first thing I was told was I would have to use steroids to have even the smallest chance of even placing in their competition. But this wasn’t the part that turned me off competing; it was watching all these spectacular athletes walking around covered in tan, looking like they have not eaten any food in 6 weeks!! Don’t get me wrong, I respect them for putting in all the hours in the gym and dieting but it has just gotten to the stage that some of the measures they are taking could be life threatening. Some of the top bodybuilders in the world like Phil Heath in my opinion are ruining the sport, they have gotten to the stage that they just look uncomfortable in their own body.
Your Health is your Wealth
I’m not saying every supplement is going to kill you, but a lot of them are definitely not good for you. But people are so consumed and are obsessed with trying to be like these “role models” that their health takes the back seat. It’s nearly a form of brain washing in my opinion! Basically a large majority of men think that if they have abs and big arms that they will get attractive women. Why would they train for years and have a strict diet when they can do this “15 minutes to abs” workout and have a small pharmacy of supplements, which the dude from “Geordie Shore” takes, to reach their goals faster? And at what price?
The Mind: Your Worst Enemy and Best Friend
I understand that science came into the equation and identified that being fit is better for your health, but most people as I said before don’t give a sh*t about that as long as they look good. People are doing fewer things that make them happy and more of what they think will make them happy. The worst part about all this is, if you are not fit nowadays the majority of people will put themselves down and constantly point out their own flaws and that’s without the contribution of all these “happy” people treating you like a second class citizen because you are categorised as overweight!! We are literally talking ourselves into depression.
