In fact Real Madrid has broken the previous 5 world transfer records which include the transfer of Luis Figo from bitter rivals Barcelona for €44 million in 2000; Zinedine Zidane for €54.4 million from Juventus in 2001; Kaka for €66.8 million from AC Milan in 2009; Cristiano Ronaldo for €95.5 million from Manchester United in 2009 and then of course Bales record breaking €100 million move this summer. That’s a total of €360.7 million on just 5 players. An astonishing figure to say the least!
But have Madrid gone too far this time by breaking the €100 million mark? Or does this seemingly ‘blank cheque’ capability make it all the more entertaining and exciting for football fans around the world? There is one thing for sure, Real Madrid will continue in their quest to return to the top of European football and if this means spending €110 million, €120 million even €130 million, I don’t think anyone will question their readiness to do so.
