Working in the sport and leisure industry it’s very rare to go a full day without seeing someone walk through the doors of the gym without an energy drink of some kind. It’s easy to see the appeal of downing one of these drinks with some of them having as much as 140mg of caffeine in one serving it gives the impression your about to kick ass right!! No not really in actual fact its doing the opposite really. In the initial 25-30 minutes after having an energy drink you feel great, plenty of energy until the initial caffeine kick wears off and your blood sugar hits the floor after the tremendous insulin spike you’ve just set into motion.
